「浄化」神磯の鳥居― 水のゆらぎ、光の紋様
Kamiiso no Torii
茨城・大洗の神磯の鳥居。神が降り立ったと伝えられる岩礁は、寄せては返す波に絶えず洗われ続ける祈りの場です。水は古来、穢れを祓う「禊(みそぎ)」の象徴であり、絶え間なく響く波音は、この土地そのものが奏でる浄化の音楽といえます。
すべての根源は「音」にある―。本作はその波音に耳を澄ませることから生まれました。音源には、現地で収録したフィールドレコーディングを使用しています。そこには波の響きだけでなく、早朝、神磯の鳥居から昇る朝日を見ようと集まった人々のかすかな声も刻まれています。祈りの場に自然と人が集い、同じ光を待つ―その気配ごと、この土地の「音の風景」として作品に取り込みました。
その音のゆらぎをリアルタイムに解析し、波動を海面に浮かぶ一つの「光」へと変換しています。それが、かすかに輝く六芒星の紋様です。
六芒星は、上向きの三角形(火・天)と下向きの三角形(水・地)が重なり合う、相反するものの調和を表す古い印です。水の聖地に光の紋様として浮かべることで、水と光、自然とデジタルが響き合い、場が静かに整えられていく様子を視覚化しました。紋様はゆっくりと左回りに回転します。左回転は古くから「浄化・解放」の巡りとされ、溜まったものをほどき、祓い清める動きです。
波が強く打ち寄せる瞬間、六芒星はふっと輝きを増し、引き波とともに淡く沈む。自然の「ゆらぎ」がそのままデジタルの「光」の呼吸となり、見る人の心を静かに洗い流していきます。
Purification Kamiiso no Torii — Ripples of Water, Patterns of Light
The Kamiiso no Torii gate in Oarai, Ibaraki. Standing on a rocky reef where a deity is said to have descended, it is a place of prayer, endlessly washed by the ebb and flow of the waves. Since ancient times, water has been a symbol of misogi — the ritual cleansing of impurity — and the ceaseless sound of the waves is, in itself, the music of purification played by this sacred place.
At the root of everything lies “sound.” This work was born from listening closely to those waves. The soundtrack is a field recording captured on site. Etched into it are not only the voices of the sea, but also the faint murmur of people who gathered in the early morning to watch the sunrise rise beyond the torii gate. People drawn together at a place of prayer, waiting for the same light — that very presence has been woven into the work as part of this land’s soundscape.
The subtle fluctuations of these sounds are analyzed in real time and transformed into a single point of “light” floating on the surface of the sea — a faintly glowing hexagram.
The hexagram is an ancient symbol in which an upward triangle (fire, heaven) and a downward triangle (water, earth) interlock, representing the harmony of opposites. By casting it as a pattern of light upon this sacred place of water, the work visualizes water and light, nature and the digital, resonating together as the site is quietly set in order. The pattern rotates slowly counterclockwise — a motion long associated with purification and release, unwinding and cleansing what has accumulated.
When a wave surges in, the hexagram flares softly brighter; as the water recedes, it dims and sinks back into the sea. The “fluctuations” of nature become the very breath of digital “light,” gently washing over the heart of the viewer.
